Medical Students from the National University of Singapore Visit Our Center and Learn About the Fukushima Health Management Survey (June 1, 2026)
Two medical students from the National University of Singapore, currently participating in a short-term academic exchange program at Fukushima Medical University, visited the Radiation Medical Science Center for the Fukushima Health Management Survey on June 1, 2026.
Specially Appointed Professor Takagi, Director of the Office of Public Communications and International Cooperation, provided an overview of the Fukushima Health Management Survey and engaged in an active question-and-answer session with the students.
During a discussion with Executive Director Yasumura, the students were particularly impressed by his message that people should “come to Fukushima,” “know about Fukushima,” and “share what they have experienced and learned” about the region 15 years after the complex disaster. The two students also showed a strong interest in how scientific evidence can be communicated effectively to the public and public health issues following disasters, leading to a lively exchange of ideas.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity for the students to deepen their understanding of the relationship between disasters and health, and the importance of long-term health support for affected populations through the Fukushima Health Management Survey.
