Peer-reviewed reports comprise a special issue of the Journal of Epidemiology

2022/12/05

Fukushima Health Management Survey results and interpretations are carefully reviewed by outside experts prior to publication in academic journals. This peer review process led to the acceptance of 11 articles for publication in the Journal of Epidemiology, an international journal managed by the Japan Epidemiological Association (JEA).

Individual external exposure doses – obtained through the Basic Survey – and health conditions of Fukushima residents – found through the Comprehensive Health Check, Mental Health and Lifestyle Survey, and Pregnancy and Birth Survey – are of ongoing concern to those who might be affected. This ground-breaking publication addresses questions about relationships between low dose radiation and health. The special issue also summarizes a decade of progress made through each of the 5 surveys in the Fukushima Health Management Survey, along with issues yet to be addressed, and proposed future directions.

To promote better understanding of the Fukushima Health Management Survey, all 11 articles, packaged as an open-access special issue, are available for free through the JEA website.
