Collaboration with the 13 municipalities designated as evacuation zone
- Provide information on radiation health effects, and the Fukushima Health Management Survey, to public health nurses and welfare officials in each municipality.
Operation of a call center
- Our call center responds to inquiries and requests from those who are eligible for the survey by phone or e-mail, such as questions about each survey and request for making or changing reservations for examinations and updating registered personal information.
Information provision through the website
- Commentary on health promotion with frequent online accesses
- We provide various information through our website, including notices on dates and results of examinations, list of published papers, and digital version of our leaflets.
Open lectures
- In addition to providing straightforward explanations of the results and findings of the Fukushima Health Management Survey, focusing on key points, we have created six videos useful for maintaining and improving the health of our residents. As the initial release, three of these videos are available online. We also responded to questions from viewers on the day of the distribution.
Information dissemination via social media
- The Center has launched its official X account, intending to disseminate findings of the Fukushima Health Management Survey and useful information on health promotion on a wide scale. From July 25, 2023, to March 29, 2024, we posted 69 messages.
Holding a workshop on “Radiation and Health” in cooperation with the Fukushima Medical Association
- In cooperation with the Fukushima Medical Association, the Center dispatches faculty members to educational training sessions for doctors and others to acquire basic knowledge about the health effects of radiation.
International information dissemination
Organize international conferences with experts from international organizations, etc.
- We hold an annual international symposium to disseminate the latest findings from the survey and better interpret the survey results through discussions with renowned researchers from Japan and abroad in hope that the outcomes of the symposiums help maintain and improve the health of Fukushima residents.

- The Center supports joint projects with IAEA under the Practical Arrangement between IAEA and FMU.
- On September 14, 2024, Dr. Yasumura, our center’s Executive Director gave a presentation about the Fukushima Health Management Survey at WHO’s REMPAN Coordination Meeting in Seoul, Korea.
- On November 6, 2023, Dr. Zhanat CARR, Lead Technical Officer, WHO Radiation and Health Unit visited the Center, and actively exchanged opinions with our faculty and staff.
- On November 7, 2024, Dr. Tsubokura gave a presentation about health issues at the 7th International Symposium of ICRP in Tokyo.
- On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, Ambassadors to the IAEA Board of Governors visited our Center, and Dr. Yasumura, Executive Director of FMU Radiation Medical Science Center explained the overview of the Survey.
Conference participation
- Participate in overseas and domestic conferences, (including online participation) to collect, share, and disseminate information on the status of the Fukushima Health Management Survey, the effects of radiation in Fukushima, and the health situation of the residents of the prefecture.
Other
- In order to deepen knowledge and disseminate information on the Fukushima health Management Survey, we actively collaborate with international organizations and overseas universities.
